Broken Culture is a celebration of true urban culture. It’s all about the city and the buzz, energy, music, art and lifestyle that comes with it. We’re influenced by Hip Hop, Drum and Bass, Graffiti, Skateboarding, Crate Digging and Design.
Whilst Hip Hop culture is what many might consider the complete opposite of the traditional idea of British culture, it’s actually one of the richest cultural movements in the UK.
Graffiti has influenced perhaps the most important artistic movement of our time, Street Art, as well as slowly becoming recognized as a respectable art form in itself.
Hip Hop’s use of the Amen Break has paved the way for almost all modern dance music and the pioneering use of Turntables by early Hip Hop Djs has completely shaped the way we listen to music.
Skateboarding’s not only become recognized as a modern sport but it’s creative way of thinking about the urban environment has also influenced musicians, artists, designers and architects.
All this forms a culture of the underground, and can’t be ignored. Broken Culture is a movement towards, and a celebration of, the establishment of Hip Hop as a respected form of music, lyricism and art and it’s surrounding lifestyle as a true cultural movement, and a very important one at that.
